1. Talk to your grandchildren in words they understand
2. Set the ground rules before you begin your activity together
3. When you communicate, physically get close and look them in the eyes 
4. Let your grandchildren ask questions, and grandparents listen to their responses
5. Be prepared that your grandchildren will not always agree!
